TRACK FOR TRACK
The Prophet & The Prophecy
Something unique about this album:
While I had intended to actually put this album together, I didn't focus on it, and thus didn't realize that when I finished my recording for "The Feverish," these other songs that got recorded alongside would actually be enough to make up the EP.
The Coolest thing about this album:
Every last one of the songs features some part of my prophetic life and prophetic ministry tied in the dope a$s rhymes I spit. lol
Here's a little commentary on each track (in reverse order):
"hey adrian"
This is actually supposed to be the last track on "The Checkmate..." album, and the beat was originally made by accident. Let me explain: I was actually at Starbucks working on a beat for a song I have called "Twelve" (which was going to be featured on this project), because the original beat belonged to someone else. So I wanted to make my own beat for that song. The "hey adrian" beat had a nice swing to it, but it didn't fit the rhymes for "Twelve," and yet I was already grooving to it--- especially the hook. So I started aiming the song in that direction. The song is about the unfiltered, uncut, sexual interaction between me and a young lady named adrian... obviously.
"demolition"
This song is obviously a diss, mixed with exposure, a warning, prophecy, and judgment against the false prophet and "prince of iniquity" known as Dee-1, a rapper from New Orleans, who has swept the Christian and music world with his false gospel. God had been building me up to warn and judge him for deviating from the truth of God's Word to establish his own "righteousness" under the false premise of "doing God's work." I had a whole podcast dealing exclusively with warning him, the people he's attacking, and those following him, of the SERIOUS error he is making. The beat was done way in advance, as I was planning on using it for something else. One day I was vibing to the beat, and realized that that was the beat I needed to use for this diss track. The hook was written while eating an Italian Beef sandwich from Portillo's in Arlington, Texas (
"the strainj fass to prophetic intentional art"
I fell in love with this beat when I first started making it. It has such a mysterious sound to it. So I wanted to throw something mysterious over it. Thus, I decided to give some insight into what my prophetic life with God consists of, and lessons I've learned in how I was taught to conduct myself with Him in order to maintain proper prophetic posture and operation. Originally, it was supposed to be a track with me and Lyrikill, with him blessing the second verse. And while it might still go that way, I was just pulling up verses and songs that I had not recorded, and knocking them out while I was recording at his crib. There is a bit of background hissing in the track that, after attempting to remove when I was mixing it, decided to leave it in there.
"I AM MIZRAIM"
The beat for this was made very early in my MPC endeavors. The piano is actually sampled from myself, a piece I had played years ago. The way the piano hits is off just a little bit, but that's what made me love it. When I was pulling beats for "The Checkmate...," I knew I wanted to include this one. The first recording of this was done earlier this year (2024), but I wanted to change a few things in how i ripped off, so I just re-recorded it. The rhymes were written in the Planet Fitness parking lot in Duluth, GA.
"the congriis intro"
Me and Lyrikill were friends, roommates, and rhyme partners since college. So the name "congriis" dates back to 1998/1999. Fast forward 25/ 26 years... and when I came back into the music mix with him, I didn't see the reason for using any other name than that one, especially since I actively and boldly speak about and against man's government, while establishing God's government. I made the beat at his dinner table, and when thinking about doing a project, I really felt that joint would make the perfect intro. I wrote my verse in a strip mall parking lot in Baton Rouge, and then he wrote his and sent it to me through a video text. When I was visiting him not long after, we recorded the joint together, and I still get chill bumps listening to it. It's one of those joints that let's you know that true friendship, love, and respect are the recipe to make solid music. This is a reunion type track. It's like I tell how it started, and he tells where we're at, both of us leaving out "Steel sharpens steel and I'm still around..." let's me know how solid Lyrikill is as a friend.
"and suddenly through the back door"
Ok... so, what I love about this beat is that it was made at the end of a particular project I started working called "A Jazzier Wet Dream." I had about 10-12 beats already, and was looking to add just a few more. And this was one of them. I was in Colorado Springs at a Starbucks, and I almost lost my FUCKIN' MIND when I heard the sample. Originally intended to just be an instrumental project, tracks like this let me know that I had to start writing to it. "Grand wonder assist..." was ringing to me as the first words to kick off the track. The concept is me challenging the United States government and military, looking at them like they're as small as fly, as I, being as small as fly in comparison, will do more damage to them being bigger. It has a "David vs Goliath" type feel to it.
"To take the beer (bir) back to Brews is called regal"
Regal spelled backwards is "lager" which is beer.
"Bir" (pronounced "beer") is how you say "ONE" in Turkish.
Brews is for both "Brewery" and "Hebrews".
Bringing Yeshua back to The Hebrews/Israelites--- concluding the times of the Gentiles.
And Turkey just happens to be where all seven churches of Revelation 2&3 were located.
Yep... my entendres are DEEP!
"alien bossed salado, take too"
I straight RIPPED on this joint. Sitting in a Starbucks in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, getting ready to work on beats, I felt led to go outside and pray about a biblical mystery that was on my heart. When I came back inside, a friend of mine came through and we chopped it up over coffee, with some deep things going back and forth. When he left, I made that beat and was vibing to it. I started working on the lyrics right there, concluding them over the last couple days. The second verse was written on my phone, while I was driving from Shreveport back to DFW.
I hope that people are intrigued by the concepts, power, wisdom, rhyme skill, etc.
